93-year-old Hilton Head Black woman fights to keep family land owned since the Civil War

Hilton Head, South Carolina – Josephine Wright, 93, has tried her best to work with a developer that is building a massive complex around her centuries-old family property. The developer, Bailey Point Investment LLC, has complained that Wright’s satellite dish was on their land preventing them from moving forward with construction.

So Wright made arrangements to move her Satelite dish, but now the Bailey Point is coming after Wright again with new claims… Her front porch. Bailey Point alleges that Wrighrt’s porch is on their land and they have records to prove it.

Bailey Point has reported tried buying Wright’s land from her, but she has refused to do so. The land she sits on has been in her family since the days of the United States Civil War, and she wants to continue to keep the land in the family.

Wright’s legal battle with Bailey Point has received so much attention from supporters around the world. NBA superstar, Kyrie Irving, has donated $40,000 to Wright’s GoFundMe page. Philadelphia-based rapper, Meek Mill, has voiced his support of Wright.

Now media mogul, Tyler Perry, has voiced his support by sharing Wright’s story on his Instagram page. Perry quotes Wright’s, “Ive been pretty much a fighter all of my life.” Perry responds to Wright by asking, “Well, that makes two of us. Ms. Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight.”
